Kim Koppelman is a Policy Fellow at American Experiment North Dakota.

Koppelman was first elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives in 1994 and served until 2022. During his tenure in the House, Koppelman chaired the Judiciary Committee, the Constitutional Revision Committee and the Administrative Rules Committee. He was elected Speaker of the House in 2020. Koppelman also represented North Dakota in leadership positions with the Council of State Governments, the National Conference of State Legislatures, and the American Legislative Exchange Council.

During his time in the North Dakota legislature, Koppelman sponsored landmark legislation and Constitutional amendments to preserve important Constitutional principles, protect individual rights, cut government red tape and regulation, improve criminal justice and government efficiency and protect our freedoms.

He currently serves on the Boards of Next Gen-The National Institute for Civil Discourse and the Phoenix Correspondence Commission and chairs the Valley Christian Leadership Association. He has also been active in his local community and church, serving for many years as an elder and church chairman. He has been a frequent guest on radio and television programs, has been a guest lecturer in colleges and universities and has spoken before government, business, faith-based and general audiences throughout the nation.

Kim received a Bachelor of Science degree from North Dakota State College of Science and was the president and CEO of Koppelman & Associates, LLC, an advertising, marketing and public relations agency. He and his wife, Torey, are the parents of three children and 10 grandchildren and reside in West Fargo, North Dakota.
