How long has Center of the American Experiment been active?

The Center was founded in 1990 by Mitch Pearlstein and a small, diverse group of community-minded Minnesotans. They believed that free enterprise, limited government, and individual freedom were fundamental to achieving stronger families and a thriving state. After over 30 years of successfully shaping policy and public opinion in Minnesota, American Experiment expanded its operations to North Dakota in early 2022.

Can your research be trusted?

Each of our reports is fact-based and backed by easily verifiable sources. Occasionally, the appendix for one of our research papers will rival the length of the paper itself! That said, our policy experts are always open to good faith critiques and corrections of their work. If you have a question or concern, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Does the Center have a political affiliation?

As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Center of the American Experiment was created to educate the public on policy issues that impact them as individuals and our community as a whole. We are not affiliated with any party, do not endorse candidates for office, and don’t fund candidates’ campaigns. However, we love working with politicians of all stripes who support our ideas.
