Internships

Internship Program

American Experiment North Dakota is always looking for bright young people who want to make our state a better place to work and live. Keep reading to learn more about our internship program and how to apply.

Internships

Our interns work in two primary areas: Policy and Communications.

Policy interns work closely with our policy fellows, assisting with research in the fields of economics, education, energy and environment, health care, public safety, and more.

Communications interns work one-on-one with the communications team, including social media engagement, institutional promotion, campaign design, and more.

While interns can specify interest in working in a specific area(s), there is at times overlap in projects to provide a well-rounded experience. But don’t worry, you won’t be making coffee!

Applications

To apply, submit a cover letter, resume, and two writing samples in PDF form to [email protected].

FAQs

How long is the internship?

Interns typically join us outside of the school year, during summer or winter break, for an average duration of 1 to 3 months. However, we accept interns year-round.

Is this a paid internship?

As a nonprofit organization, we are unable to provide paid opportunities for our interns at this time. We will customize an intern’s schedule to accommodate his or her other obligations and responsibilities.

What does the ideal applicant look like?

We look for college-aged interns (recent graduates are welcome) who are strong writers, thinkers, and researchers. Ideal applicants have a passion for policy development and tackling North Dakota’s toughest problems. Flexibility, adaptability, and good interpersonal skills are a must!

When is the deadline to apply?

We accept interns on a rolling basis. There are no strict program dates, so there are no application deadlines.
